Medicare Supplement Plans

Medicare Supplement Open Enrollment
The Open Enrollment period for a Medicare Supplement Plan, often referred to as Medigap, begins on the first day of the month you turn 65 or older. The open enrollment period last 6 months. This is the best time to purchase a Medicare Supplement Plan as the insurance companies cannot use medical underwriting. During your Medigap Open Enrollment period, the insurance companies may not refuse or charge you more the anyone else even if you have no preexisting health problems. After this Open Enrollment Period ends, the insurance companies will make you go through medical underwriting and can deny coverage based upon pre-existing health issues.
Medicare Supplement
You must have Medicare Part A & Part B before purchasing a Medicare Supplement Plan. Medicare is your primary insurance and your Medicare Supplement Plan would cover most out of pocket costs that Original Medicare does not cover. If you chose a Medigap Insurance Plan often referred to as a Medicare Supplement Plan, you will keep your Original Medicare which usually pays 80% and the Supplement will pay the remaining 20%. You know longer must worry about copayments, deductibles, or coinsurance. That is where your supplement insurance comes in. The supplement insurance policies we offer will even provide certain benefits that Original Medicare does not cover like emergency expenses when you travel outside the USA. Note, Medigap polices (Supplement policies) are not allowed to include prescription drug coverage. As a result, Affordable Health & Life Insurance offers stand-alone prescription plans and we will help you determine which plan is right for you.
Networks
The Medicare Supplement Plans we offer will allow you to go to any doctor or facility that accepts Medicare. If they accept Medicare, then they will accept your supplement. That means you can go to almost any doctor in the USA. Most participating doctors will accept Medicare assignment. They will charge Medicare 80% and your supplement will pay the additional 20%. You no longer will have to come out of pocket for copayments or coinsurance when covered by one of our Medigap policies.
